Our Rotary Applications:
2.5-stop Indexing Dial
Applications
A special order 2.5-stop indexing drive indexes the dial every 144°, resulting in the arrangement of the work stations in the following order: loading, station 4, 2, unloading, 3. The unique configuration of the indexing drive allows the loading and unloading stations to be located separately.
Center Column Indexing Drive
The DA Series has three coaxial output shafts for intermittent, stationary, and continuous motions. It serves as the chassis for rotary process machinery. All outputs are synchronized to the input shaft. The Parts Handlers on the upper dial are driven by the continuous output shaft for synchronized operation with the rest of the process.
Central-mounted Work Units
The zero-backlash, play-free RollerDrive controls robot arms and other masses with precise motion characteristics. The absence of play ensures smooth and undisturbed motions under repeated forward and reverse changes, as well as changes in the direction of loading, such as the line of gravity.
Coil Winding
An Oscillating Drive is used to move the wire dispensing nozzle back and forth along a spinning mandrel in this application, which winds the wire into a coil. The smooth motion of the Oscillating Drive produces an evenly wound coil.
Glass Edge Polishing
This application indexes the glass substrate for edge polishing. The zero-backlash mechanism has no play, which keeps the output rigid, even under work loads. The right-angle input and output shafts minimize the footprint into a low-profile unit.
High-speed Free-position Indexing
The zero-backlash RollerDrive is driven by a servomotor for high-speed operation with accurate positioning performance. It has no play, giving it excellent dynamic characteristics for smooth, undisturbed motion, featuring short settling times.
Large-size Substrate Turning
The zero-backlash RollerDrive has no play, meaning it is capable of turning large substrates smoothly without motion disturbances – resulting in shorter positioning times. Designed to bear heavy thrusts, fixtures may be directly mounted to the RollerDrive.
Oscillating and Rotating Arm
The zero-backlash RollerDrive moves robot arms and other masses with precise motion characteristics. Zero-backlash means there is no play, ensuring smooth and undisturbed motions under repeated forward and reverse changes or changes in the direction of loading, such as the line of gravity.
Supply and Discharge Welding Materials
This application uses the simple ON/OFF control of the general purpose motor to position heavy, oversized objects quickly and accurately. It holds position without clamping, requiring no hydraulic equipment or extra tooling, all while offering shorter positioning time. The all-in-one α Series comes with an integrated drive unit.
Synchronized Operation off Single Driveshaft
In this application, multiple Indexing Drives are mechanically driven off a single jackshaft while mechanical synchronization eliminates the need for sensor-based sequential motion control – allowing for a simpler design.
Synchronized Pick & Place and Dial
An indexing drive is used to index this dial. The Oscillating Handler responsible for feeding parts is mechanically synchronized with the input shaft of the indexing drive. All motions are mechanically linked to ensure reliable operation at high speed.
Workpiece Inversion
Applications
The workpiece inversion features the conveyor mounted between the two dials on the output of the indexing drive. The conveyor leads the workpiece into the notches in the dials, and the indexer turns the dials to invert the workpiece. The inversion is accomplished inline with the conveyor.
Our Linear Applications:
Ballscrew Drive (Vertical)
The RollerDrive stands up well to thrust loads, making it suitable for building equipment with vertical motions. It’s a zero-backlash mechanism, meaning it has no play; allowing for shorter positioning time without motion disturbances.
Transfer Feeding Mechanism for Bar Stock
Two mechanically synchronized Parts Handlers move a performed transfer plate, which is designed to hold the workpieces for even-pitch feeding. The drive package functions concurrently to ensure high accuracy at high speeds.
Upright Conveyor
Applications
A conveyor moves along parts, feeding and discharging them from the upright conveyor for drying and further processing. The Indexing Drive works to index the conveyor, allowing time to transfer in and out of the conveyor. This configuration is ideal for washing processes and drying kilns.
Variable Feed Pitch for Sheet Stock
This Indexing Drive has a 360° indexing period, resulting in a continuous drive capable of being started or stopped at any desired position. The feed rollers on the output advance the sheet stock for getting the best fit in length.
Our Rotary Applications
Conveying with Presence-detection
A sensor detects parts at the transfer point, providing a signal to actuate the transfer motion. The Hybrid SANDEX FE_H Series comes standard equipped with a stepping motor for easy integration.
Distribution to Two Lines
The Indexing Handler distributes parts to either line by turning the input in forward or reverse positioning. It comes standard equipped with an easy-to-control stepping motor. The Hybrid SANDEX FE_H Series is ideal for this application.
End-to-end Conveyor Transfer
The End-to-end conveyor transfer allows parts are transferred between two conveyors by converting the motion of the Oscillating Drive into a linear back and forth motion. The conveyor is driven intermittently by an Indexing Drive to allow dwell period for parts transfer and work processing.
Overhead Parts Transferring Mechanism
This Oscillating Handler is mounted over the line for less installation space, reducing the distance to transfer parts for faster overall cycle speed. Our hybrid SANDEX FE_H Series can be mounted overhead without worrying about foreign objects falling into the process. It comes with a drive motor for quick and easy integration.
Pick & Place Control with Intermediate Stop
This motion profile has a built-in intermediate stop that allows the operator to create a waiting position. The Hybrid SANDEX FE_H Series is ideal for this application. Additionally, the application comes standard with a stepping motor, allowing for easy control of speed and duration in waiting position.
Pick & Place Control
This Oscillating Handler is driven by a speed controllable motor, which allows fine tune speed control during the work conveying motion, as well as the ability to optimize every phase of the motion. The Hybrid SANDEX FE_H Series is ideal for this application because it has a standard equipped stepping motor for easy speed control.
Multi-unit Drive off a Single Gear
The Center Column Indexing Drive has a coaxial output that consists of a continuous shaft, an intermittent output, and a stationary shaft. The dial is driven by the continuous shaft while the inspection devices are driven by the intermittent shaft. The intermittent shaft moves in sync with the dial to allow standstill vision inspections.
Product Inspection
Applications
The output shaft of this Oscillating Drive moves the inspection devices back and forth through means of its gears. The inspection devices can be synchronized to move with the continuously moving workpieces for a fixed period. This makes the workpieces appear motionless during the inspection.
Synchronized Vision Inspection
The Center Column Indexing Drive has a coaxial output that consists of a continuous shaft, an intermittent output, and a stationary shaft. This dial is driven by the continuous shaft while the inspection devices are driven by the intermittent shaft. The intermittent shaft moves in sync with the dial to allow standstill vision inspections.
